These plants are found in these landforms or conditions but can grow elsewhere:
Dry
The plants that are most capable of surviving very dry conditions
Woodland
trees are smaller, further apart and closer to plains
Forest
Trees are taller, closer together and closer to mountains
Upper forest
Above 350 m altitude
Alpine
Above 1500 m altitude

Parcels are sent by Registered Post which includes insurance cover for Victoria and NSW. 1 or 2 plants cost $10.00, 3 to 10 plants cost $20.00, 11 to 20 plants cost $25.00, for orders over 20 plants or for a state other than Victoria or NSW we will contact you with a quote when you place your order.

Common Tussock Grass
(Poa labillarderei)

Origin: DRY. Forest, upper forest. A soft, hardy tussock grass to 50 cm tall. Food for caterpillars. Useful for controlling soil erosion. Good wildlife habitat. Fire retardant.

Fine-leaf or Grey Tussock Grass
(Poa sieberiana)

Origin: Dry/Woodland/Forest. Soft tussock grass to 30 cm height. Fire retardant. Was used for string or basket making. Food for caterpillars of Klug’s Xenica butterfly .

Kangaroo Grass
(Themeda triandra)

D W F Soft tussock to 50cm high, seed stalks to 1.5m. Bronze hues in winter. Stems and leaves used for fibre for string and nets, food for caterpillars of Xenica butterfly and Brown Butterflies.

(Eragrostis brownii)

D W F Height to 10 cm. Leaf blades radiate from base to make flat disc 30 cm wide. Flowers between Nov and May. Ideal for rarely- or no-mow lawn. Available Dec 2008.

(Joycea pallida)

W F Tussock to 40 cm height. On slopes has drooping habit, making drop shaped mounds. Distinctive red anthers, flowers between Nov and Feb. Fire retardant. Available Dec 2008.

(Austrodanthonia pencilllata)

Origin: Dry Woodland/Forest Variable small, fine-leaved tussock to 15 cm height. Flowers between Sept and Feb. Ideal as a component of rarely- or no-mow lawns. Fire retardant.

Origin: DRY. A super tough perennial grass. Low growing and stays green all year. as a component of rarely- or no-mow lawns. Decorative flower heads up to 40cm tall resemble windmills.
